The temporary suspension of public Masses and closing of the church due to the pandemic COVID-19 has not prevented the parish from initiating the important work of completing of the restoration of its three historic altars.<\/p>\n

With the approval of the Archdiocese, the work required to restore both Our Lady\u2019s altar and the one dedicated to Saint Joseph is currently being undertaken by Atelier Plantagen\u00eat who recently carried out restorative treatment on the high altar.<\/p>\n

Tout comme le ma\u00eetre autel, les deux autels lat\u00e9raux r\u00e9alis\u00e9s 1898 sont le fruit d\u2019une association \u00e9troite entre deux artistes, le chanoine Georges Bouillon (1841-1932), homme d\u2019\u00c9glise et architecte et un de ses collaborateurs de longue date, Flavien Rochon (1824-1902) et furent con\u00e7us pour la chapelle du monast\u00e8re des S\u0153urs Adoratrices du Pr\u00e9cieux Sang, \u00e0 cette \u00e9poque situ\u00e9 dans New Edinburg.<\/p>\n

Although designed as complimentary elements of the same commission and meant to be seen in a common setting, the two altars currently undergoing restoration differ somewhat from the high altar, most noticeably in the unique style adopted for the capitals of the columns and the use of several other decorative details carved in wood not found on the high altar.<\/p>\n

The expert attention required to restore the side altars is expected to cost $24, 800 (plus applicable taxes). You can help by contributing to the Fonds Restauration des autels.<\/em><\/p>\n
